thank you for bringing this up... I have not been on for a couple days due to work out of town..

This actually hits very close to home, as we contemplated racing this event.. I know a few that did race, although they were not involved in the accident..

its a tragedy and my heart goes out to all involved..

EZ, there are signs posted that spectators are to stay 125 feet or more from the course... however, considering these are long courses, It is impossible to enforce the rules on every part of the course... People find the most exciting areas, and and get as close to the action as possible... many find these areas hoping to see the accidents that may occur... without a thought that they may be involved.. Common sense should tell you that standing within 3 feet of a race course on a flat area is not a great idea.. standing next to a danger area is just asking for trouble... There are spectators that crowd around the outside of hard corners... not too smart if you ask me... spectators go as far as digging small ditches, pushing rocks into the course and even changing course markers in the desert to see some "action".. then stand next to the area and wait...a little common sense on spectators part would go a long way...

John, you are absolutely right.. break the rules and assume the risk... I am pretty sure you and I probably have the same thoughts on this.

The off road community is pulling together to help the families involved in this tragedy..

Thanks for the info!! I can't believe idiots move the track markers along with the other things you mentioned hoping for accidents!! Action would mean accidents correct?

like anything else, it all comes down to common sense... or the lack there of...

You can put as many restrictions as you like on, cost promotors a fortune and still people will ignore the rules. simple example put sign on fence 'Wet Paint- don't touch' If one person breaks rules-most follow.

on a high note...at this point, BLM is working diligently with Race promoters to keep things safe and keep off road racing alive.. good to see for a change
