The Nigerian man accused of the failed attempt to blow up an aircraft on Christmas Day provided useful information to American authorities which the FBI has followed up at home and overseas, officials have confirmed.
Prosecutors have charged Mr Abdulmutallab, 23, with trying to blow up the flight from Amsterdam to Detroit with a bomb hidden in his underwear, drawing criticism from some people who believe he should face a special military tribunal and be questioned by the intelligence services rather than the FBI.Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab spoke freely to FBI agents immediately after his arrest at Detroit Airport but after he had had surgery for burns on his legs he stopped co-operating and was read his rights.
Quite right too! Operate on him (glad he had private health care) read him his rights, then lock him up, feed him and 'nanny' him. Just the sort of treatment captured 'Allies' can expect.
