If the suicider has mental illness, that's a horse of a different color. If he had mental illness, then ok he wasn't a selfish bastard...he was sick....

The only information I have to back it up, is that my family was torn to shreds when my Mother commited suicide in 1968...She didn't think nor give a damn about the 6 children she was leaving behind, and the effects that would come from this selfish act.

Think about it in that way Doug, and maybe you can see that suicide is a very selfish thing to do.
fair enough, i thought you meant that he was selfish because of work related issues at Freddie Mac....
what matters most in life is honesty. it's never wrong to do the right thing.

I'm rude, crude, obnoxious, lazy, disorganized, and loud... but damn it, I'm fun, and the best at ALL of it.

Seems like quite a few CFOs, CEOs, bankers and stock traders are offing themselves these days... Personally, I'd just like to say, on behalf of a pissed off nation, thank you, keep up the good work, and someone PLEASE make sure there's plenty of rope in Bernie Madoff's cell... Hell, maybe we can offer mandatory Seppuku lessons, or institute "drink the cool aid Thursdays" in the boardrooms of every corporation that receives a taxpayer funded bailout while we're at it...

Seems like it says quite a bit about the person though, that something like losing money, or even both your money AND your career, would prompt them to kill themselves...

Brings to mind an old story I heard about Sam Walton concerning "Black Monday" of 87... Now, normally I consider Wal-Mart to be an evil, disgusting, faceless, and lawless, corporation that sucks the very life from every community it takes over, crushing small business economies, and providing instead, cheap, lead laden, products, produced in Chinese sweatshops to the consumer, and barely livable pay, nonexistent benefits, and long hours at soul sucking, mindless menial labor jobs to it's employees ... but I have to admit, I've found quite a bit to admire about it's founder...

ANYWAYS... On black Monday of '87, Wal-Mart stocks took a HUGE hit, and in just a few hours Walton's personal stock options had lost literally tens of millions of dollars. Upon being informed, Walton reportedly pushed his chair back from his desk, took a deep breath, smiled, and said, "Well, it's only paper."
Good luck, Be well, and see ya'll round,
    D
