EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration
Brussels bureaucrats were ridiculed yesterday after banning drink manufacturers from claiming that water can prevent dehydration.

EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove the previously undisputed fact.

Producers of bottled water are now forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict, which comes into force in the UK next month.

Last night, critics claimed the EU was at odds with both science and common sense. Conservative MEP Roger Helmer said: “This is stupidity writ large.

“The euro is burning, the EU is falling apart and yet here they are: highly-paid, highly-pensioned officials worrying about the obvious qualities of water and trying to deny us the right to say what is patently true.

“If ever there were an episode which demonstrates the folly of the great European project then this is it.”

A meeting of 21 scientists in Parma, Italy, concluded that reduced water content in the body was a symptom of dehydration and not something that drinking water could subsequently control

And people wonder why the Euro is in trouble?

Now you've done it billy...... I'm sure this will inspire a least 20 new "Presidential Findings" directed to the FDA/FCC/EPA in order to implement new regulations.

After being ridiculed for last week's directive to bottled water manufacturers, EU scientists have approved two claims that, in many consumers' eyes, will amount to the same thing.

The European Food Standards Authority has decided that there is sufficient evidence to prove that water can help regulate the body's temperature and help it carry out its normal physical and cognitive functions
Love to see how much this is costing the taxpayer!

Oh ffs where's the frigging common sense in this thing.

Nevermind at least these manufacturers can put : drink and improve your physical and cognitive functions (if you notice the claim isn't that the drink they've produced does it as it is a blanket statement - that should stop people taking them to court and arguing that THAT drink hasn't improved their functions )

Under CODEX nothing you can take that is natural is allowed to have any health claims, only products under licence or previously under license can have any such claims. Products such as asprin which are out of licence get demonised, thats not law it just happens by magic.

Vitamins are poison, minerals have no benefit... according to CODEX

Who else would pay a bunch of EU scientists to prove water has nothing to do with dehydration apart from the obvious players.

Oh yeah LOL water with chemical waste too poisonous to dump in the sea can help your teeth, although there is no evidence to prove it. HAHA but it will fuck you up which there is evidence of, but you're not allowed to say that.
