    Drunk Driving

    Compared to driving while texting the drunks are pretty safe

    Texting And Driving Worse Than Drinking and Driving

    Rigging a car with a red light to alert drivers when to brake, the magazine tested how long it takes to hit the brake when sober, when legally drunk at .08, when reading and e-mail, and when sending a text. The results are scary. Driving 70 miles per hour on a deserted air strip Car and Driver editor Eddie Alterman was slower and slower reacting and braking when e-mailing and texting.

    The results:

    * Unimpaired: .54 seconds to brake
    * Legally drunk: add 4 feet
    * Reading e-mail: add 36 feet
    * Sending a text: add 70 feet
    you knew it was bad, but 17.5 times as bad as being legally drunk??
    what matters most in life is honesty. it's never wrong to do the right thing.

    We drove behind someone texting, she was all over the road, slowing up and speeding up, I urged the wife to just put her foot down and pass as she was drunk, it was only as we passed, I realised she was texting- it was too late to get her number- I'd have reported her straight away- she could have caused a major accident!

    Apparently 12 US states have laws like this on the books and most others are pushing for it.

    Legislators target texting while driving : Other WNY : The Buffalo News

    For what it's worth, I can't even dial my cell phone (which is illegal) while driving without being all over the road. I would have to be almost staggering drunk to drive that badly.

    I like black pugs and I cannot lie...

    Keep driving defensively. Even if it's against the law people will still text while driving.
    What about those who text while driving drunk?????

    Texas LB treated for concussion after crash

    Jun 29, 4:51 pm EDT

    AUSTIN, Texas (AP)—Texas linebacker Sergio Kindle was treated for a concussion after crashing his car into an Austin apartment building last week while he was either sending or receiving a text message, his attorney said Monday.

    Kindle’s attorney, Brian Roark, said Kindle lost control of the car on June 24 while looking at the message.

    “It was probably something he should not have been doing,” Roark said.

    The crash caused about $8,700 damage and no one inside was hurt. After the crash, Kindle pushed the car back into the street and went home. He was checked by team doctors and told he had a concussion but did not have to be hospitalized.

    University spokesman John Bianco said Kindle told his coaches about the accident the next morning.

    “We’re glad nobody else was hurt and he’s going to be fine,” Bianco said.

    Police Cpl. Scott Perry said police are still investigating but no charges have been filed. Perry said police have not talked to Kindle or Roark.

    Because Kindle hit a stationary object and did not injure anyone else, he is only required to file a report with the Texas Department of Transportation, Roark said, adding he planned to file it as early as Monday.

    Roark said Kindle would pay for the damages himself or through insurance if it is covered.

    Kindle, a senior from Dallas, had 10 sacks last season. In 2007, he missed the first three games while serving a suspension for a drunken driving arrest.
