WSOP Blog #7
Yesterday was our last tournament at The Rio. In a very generous gesture RC decided to stake me in the 1 pm $200 Deepstack. Yesterday’s field was the largest to date with RC, Frenchy and myself competing against 717 other players for a top prize of $24k. After six hours of grinding I was short stacked and made a move in late position with 55. Unfortunately I found AA waiting for me and I was eliminated. RC and Frenchy made it to the dinner break at 8 pm but both made quick exits afterwards. RC’s AQ soooooted fell to a K9 when K89 hit the flop. Frenchy was in position to double up with QQ vs TT but a 10 hit the river and he was eliminated.
After our Rio adventure we took a ride into Old Vegas to play the 10 pm tournament at Binions. The casino is old and I always feel like I need a shower after leaving that place but the people are friendly and there is a ton of poker history there. Even if you don’t play in one of their tournaments go check it out anyway. If you are a poker enthusiast you’ll like it.
During the tournament Jen busted out Frenchy early and me later with a set of deuces. She almost took out Lin but chopped the pot when the board showed a flush and neither player had a club. Finally she ended up in the final 3 with RC and some guy from California. Jen took 3rd for $200 and RC and California Dude chopped for $585 each. In addition, Binions agreed to let Jen play in their monthly Tournament of Champions freeroll on July 11 since neither RC or California Dude will be available to play. Good luck Jen.
About 2 am we sadly returned to the Rio to say goodbye to RC. He is flying out this afternoon and we will all miss him. This week we learned that French Canadians have nothing to do with France, the The Elevator was a true grinder at the table, and that the only time Frenchy isn’t talking is when he is drinking his chocolate milk. We are already looking forward to next year!!
