Well you can pretty much compare a trip to Vegas with a poker hand as well, you make your standard move from the button to steal the blinds and might get away with it ... or it will eventually get pretty expensive and you have to cross your fingers not to go broke. Fortunately I already know the places with +EV when it comes down to shopping

Besides that the preparation is the "same procedure as every year" and I already sent in my ESTA request (as of September 2010 Uncle Sam now charges $14 for that, at least for me as German). The passport was just renewed last year and is valid for another 9 years so I guess that should be safe as well.

I got my train tickets to the airport early as well but it kinda sucks when you live in the middle of nowhere and it's 5h by train to get to Frankfurt for the international flight ... I should have insisted to book the flights myself but since I am working for a site they used their agency. Well, this time I can't make it to the airport in time the same day since the flight is at 11am and I have to be there 2h in advance, so they gotta pay for a hotel room the day before

It is not unusual that I have 24h trips though when I go to Vegas from my hometown ... to avoid jetlag, I always stay awake the night before the trip and just pack my stuff at that time as well. Back in 2007 I got an advice from a player from the UK and he told me to stay awake as long as possible to avoid jetlag. I was 3 times at Vegas and twice at Toronto and it always worked, I never had any jetlag at all ... so I guess he was right

A new camera for the live event coverage is also here, pretty neat tool and I got it for half the price online ... of course they were based at ... Paris, France. Kinda funny how this is following me work wise, for some reason I think that is a hint I need to work on my French again. Because my blogger colleague is from ... France and the poker site is also from ... yes, you might have guessed it, France! Most players are from Belgium and speak ... French ... lol.

Now some planning in advance for my regular community management job is due since I run most of the day to day work there such as requesting tournaments, running room updates, handling support. I have cut my hair short for a reason ... that is all I gonna say And of course the Vegas schedule is also not fully determined yet ... as well as the rough plan on when to meet up with some friends that will be at Vegas around the same time as well.

So many things to do and barely time to get er done ... ah well, fortunately I can multitask. Yes ... I am a man ... It should be another fun trip, now I just need to get more chocolate, wine and little presents for my friends - that is next on the to-do list. In 14 days I will already be sitting in the plane, bring it on weeee

well Ziximania, last time I "checked" I was indeed I was fortunate to meet some of my online poker friends from several countries in real life as well and can only say it is amazing how you can connect with people when you share the same passion and the little presents are my way to say thanks for being a friend
